Disclaimer
A short page about what to trust in these pages, and what to verify yourself before you book a flight.

What this page covers
bnsmag is an independent travel site. We try to be accurate, fair and useful. We also know that coastlines change, restaurants close, ferries reroute, and that the place you read about in March might be a building site by August. This page sets out what we promise, and what we explicitly do not.
Accuracy of reviews
Every beach review, hotel mention or itinerary published here is based on a visit by one of our staff or a trusted contributor. We note the date of the visit on every review so you can judge how recent it is.
Despite that, the world moves on. Prices rise. A perfect cove gets a new resort built above it. A trail closes after a landslide. Treat anything older than 18 months as orientation, not gospel, and verify the practical details (opening hours, ferry schedules, booking systems) against an official source before you travel.
If you spot something we got wrong, tell us. We correct on the page, and we publish a "Corrections" line at the bottom of the article.
Travel safety
Travel involves physical risk. Swimming in open water, hiking to remote coves, driving on unfamiliar roads, and visiting parts of the world your government has issued advisories about, all of these carry consequences we cannot control or predict from a desk.
Before you go anywhere we have written about:
- Check your government's current travel advisory.
- Verify you have appropriate travel insurance, including medical and evacuation cover.
- Read up on local risks, currents, weather windows, wildlife, political situations.
- Tell someone where you're going.
bnsmag is not liable for any loss, injury, damage or death arising from decisions you make based on our articles. That is a hard sentence to write on a site that wants you to travel. It is also true.
Advertising & how we make money
bnsmag is reader-supported and ad-supported. The site carries display advertising served by third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense,Google Ad Manager and Mediavine. Some pages may contain affiliate links to retailers and booking platforms; where a link is affiliated, it will be clearly marked.
Advertising is what keeps the lights on, but it never decides what we cover or how we cover it. Sales and editorial sit in separate rooms. No advertiser sees a review before publication. No advertiser has approval over copy. We will decline any campaign that asks for editorial alignment, and we have.
Sponsored content, where it appears, is clearly labeled "Sponsored" or "Paid partnership" at the top of the article in the same typeface as the headline. It is not written by our staff editors.
We do not accept press trips, comp rooms, free meals or "fam tours" for editorial coverage. When you read that one of us "stayed at" a hotel, we paid the rack rate or the going public discount, and we keep the receipt for at least two years.
Use of AI
We use AI tools the way any small newsroom does, for spell-checking, code completion, and the occasional thesaurus query. We do not generate articles, reviews or photographs with AI, and we never will under our current editorial leadership. If that ever changes, the change will be announced on this page first.
Our content is explicitly opted out of training datasets for generative AI models.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site constitutes legal, medical, financial, immigration, visa, tax, insurance or safety advice. For those, ask the appropriate professional in your jurisdiction. We are travel writers.
